Easter without the (chocolate) eggs

Easter is a tricky time for us, Eve can’t have dairy (or any beef byproducts) so the majority of Easter treats are off the menu for us.

While weighing up whether Easter is a tradition that we will maintain in our family I have come across a few adorable Easter-ish treats that could replace chocolate eggs.*

*That’s not to say there isn’t a lot more to working out whether Easter is for us, I don’t want to fulfill just the commercial side of a holiday and I still have a lot of thinking to do on this one.

  1. I haven’t thought too much about Easter…Toddler C is really too little to understand much about holidays. The highlight of Easter growing up was always dying hard boiled eggs and then having egg crushing contests…each family member would pick an egg, dye it and then we would partner up, slide the eggs head on into each other and the egg that didn’t crack got to move onto the next round!Egg salad sandwiches were the go the following day!

    • Eve probably doesn’t understand much but I like to try to build family traditions so I tend to think a lot about the significance of holidays. The egg crushing contest sounds fun and the egg salad sandwiches area very practical solution to what to do with all of the boiled eggs/

  2. I’ve put easter to the back of my mind, but at some point, will have to think about it for the little guy. How cute is your selection here, the metallic shoes are adorable

    • I think it’s on my mind because I’m keen to build traditions and it’s complicated by having to avoid chocolate, plus we have two birthdays very close to Easter so it’s a busy time.
