Slow kitchen

The kitchen renovation has slowed to a grinding pace, but our final appliance has been installed giving the room  a more cohesive look.

We chose to go with a white ASKO dishwasher model #5424.  I love the way it sits flush with the cabinets (which will be more apparent once we install kickboards and our permanent benchtops).

It’s not excessively loud and cleans exceptionally well, it can even remove dried on weetbix without soaking.

We’ve taken the leap and removed the protective plastic from our cabinets so that I can better visualise what to do with final finishes.

Originally the drawers were all to be push to open but these aren’t working as well as I would have like and we are looking in to handles for them now.

With our appliances and cabinets in the most expensive part of renovating the kitchen is now over leaving us to slowly finish the room off one job at a time.

It might be done by next Christmas?

For those of you interested the appliances purchased were.

Smeg 60cm freestanding oven (electric oven gas cooktop) $1500

DeDietrich 90cm Downdraft $2100

Asko Dishwasher $899

Total appliance costs – $4499

If you have a few minutes to spare I’d really appreciate your vote in Apartment Therapy’s Homies – Best Family and Kids Blog.

Voting for the first round ends on the 8th.
